Girl Dad is a feature film directed and written by Solvan “Slick” Naim. It stars Marsai Martin, Courtney B. Vance, Michael Rainey, and Sierra Capri. It was produced by Jamie Foxx, Datari Turner, and Aaron Gilbert. A tough, queer teenager leaves Brooklyn for the first time to spend the summer with her estranged, struggling composer father in Los Angeles. The two are forced to reconnect over a used refrigerator, that nearly upends and further strains their father-daughter relationship in the process. It won TWO awards at the ABFF 2026 Festival in Miami. One for best screenplay (Solvan “Slick” Naim) and one for best performance (Marsai Martin).
